Q:
Can Snow Roof be tinted? With what?
A:
Snow Roof may be tinted with universal latex colorants not to exceed 2 ounces of
tint per gallon of Snow Roof. Colors will be in the light pastel ranges.
Q:
What do I clean the surface with prior to coating?
A:
Bleach and water, or TSP and water, work well on most surfaces.
Follow manufacturer's instructions and do not use on aluminum.
Surface should be broomed or blown clean prior to washing.
Q:
What is the coverage rate for Snow Roof and Elasto Seal?
A:
One gallon will cover approximately 100 square feet on a smooth surface. Rough surfaces
such as alligatored tar, tar and gravel, and rolled roofing will require more
product on the initial coats, working up to one gallon per 100 square feet.
Q:
What is the best temperature for coating?
A:
The best conditions for coating are between 50 - 90 degrees F, on clear sunny days
with no chance of inclement weather for at least 24 hours. The surface
should be warm to the touch but not so hot that you cannot hold your hand
comfortably on the surface for at least 30 seconds. The best times to coat
are in the morning hours after the dew has dried from the surface. Do not
coat after 3:00pm unless adequate sunlight remains for proper curing time
such as during the summer months.
Q:
What is the difference between Snow Roof and Mobile Coat?
A:
Mobile Coat is designed with added metal primers and cleaners for application
to bare metal, such as a metal-skinned mobile home roof. Snow Roof adheres to more
surfaces, offers a superior coverage rate, and provides extended warranty coverage.
Q:
How soon can I put on my next coat?
A:
As soon as the previous coat is completely cured. Touch the thickest part of your
application. If it is resilient like a rubber band, you are ready. If the
product is still mushy underneath (you leave an impression), allow more
cure time and then re-check. Warmer temperatures and direct sunlight speed
up curing.
Q:
Do I have to use Elasto-Seal?
A:
If the roof is in good condition, with no leaks or rust, it is not required. If you do have roofing
problems, we recommend using Elasto-Seal to pre-seal the surface. Elasto-Seal
cures much faster than Snow Roof or Mobile Coat and is particularly useful
in setting seam tape and fabric.
Q:
Where can I purchase your products?
A:
Snow Roof products are available through over 20,000 dealers nation-wide, either in-stock or
on a special order basis. Find a store near you by visiting our Where To Buy page,
or if you need assistance please contact us.
Q:
Can I use fiberglass seam tape and fabric instead of polyester?
A:
It is possible, but we don't recommend it. Polyester is more flexible, stronger, and has
a proven history of success with our products. Also, be aware that some
fiberglass tape and fabric is asphalt impregnated and will not work well
with water-borne products.
